Amy CUrrie, FOUNDER

Amy grew up in two influential kitchens – her grandmother’s and at Philadelphia’s Le Bec Fin run by legendary chef George Perrier.

Amy’s grandmother taught her homestyle cooking. She was whisking her own eggs for breakfast standing on a chair at the table, before she was tall enough to reach the kitchen counter. Eventually, she learned how to combine more ingredients and create complex, delicious, and soulful food. Chicken soup–layered with flavors from what was on hand and creating something delicious and a little different each time–was a particular favorite served as a family meal. She also spent many, many nights in the back of the house at Le Bec Fin. While her parents dined in the opulent dining room, classically trained chefs taught Amy to appreciate a different kind of food and cooking alchemy. Soft eggs, caviar with creme fraiche, all the mother sauces, decadent chocolate cake – served and explained by the masters who exemplified cooking and food presentation as a fine art.

As an adult, food continued to play an important role in her life, personally and professionally. Amy started her career in media planning for food brands like Proctor and Gamble, Quaker Oats, and Welch’s then did magazine and ad sales at Cosmopolitan and Redbook which taught her about audiences and metrics. She left corporate for a time to raise three kids and during that time, launched her own successful catering business, wrote a food column, and published two cookbooks. Once her kids were grown, Amy went to work as the creative mind behind hundreds of cooking videos featuring award-winning chefs at the app start up Panna Cooking. When Panna was acquired 5 years in by Warner Bros. Discovery, Amy moved to the Food Network where she launched the FN Kitchen vertical and earned the nickname “Chef Whisperer”.

In 2019 – recognizing an opportunity to bring brands, consumers, and chefs closer together through more varied platforms and storytelling techniques – Amy left the Food Network to build HotDish, a culinary creative agency that takes a new and modern approach to telling food stories through cooking. From home cooks and award-winning chefs to humble or very fine ingredients, Amy’s many decades in kitchens around the world make her particularly adept at showcasing stories, talent, products, and plates and leveraging the universal language of food as an effective way to connect brands to consumers.
